Bass to 4 string idea

Just wondered if this might work... get a 1/2 size Hand bass, 25 in scale... for a 4 string..change pups, shove it in a cigar box, and call it a day.... there you have a Rt Hand 4 string  CGB

i'm a little lost. you wanna slap regular strings onto a bass neck (shortened scale) to play as a guitar?

yep... slap reg strings on a 1/2 scale bass "25inch scale"and have a NEW from the store 4 string...

dont know what that would cost, but it should sound and play well. though wouldnt it be cheaper to get a $30 acoustic from walmart and just remove 2 strings? just thinkin

Yeah, what yer sayin' will work, BUT it's probably just as easy to do a complete build as it is to do a "hybrid".
Been there done that. Just as soon do it all.

I have done a bass this way .... CB with all the works except the body. The end result was ok and played well .... but it really would have been easier and quicker to just do it from scratch.
