First off hello! I have been lurking here for a few months and built two CBG's.
I am trying to get a little more professional in the look and feel so I was wondering what sized roundover router bit and any tips you have for rounding the back of the neck? I ordered a surform shaver and rasp to try and form one by hand too. But I figure a router must be quicker.
Any tips are appreciated!

I use a Surform, shoe rasp, files, sandpaper and cabinet scrapers.
Cabinet scrapers are lovely to use and come in various shapes. They work like a micro-plane. You form a burr on the scraper and then .......scrape. There's expensive tools for making the burr but you just need something harder than the scraper. I use the edge of a punch.
Ditto what Chickenbone John says. Spokeshave and sander for me! Router is more trouble and mess that it's worth for neck shaping.
What the Phrygian Kid said. Hand forming is a special part of the process. I guess if you are into mass producing CBGs a router would help with the assembly line, but CBGs are more of an individual thing to me and how fast I get it built doesn't really matter.
I make lots of guitars, sometimes ten or twelve in a week, but still the spokeshave is the quickest and best way of doing it, and preserves a degree of individuality to the finished product. To get the neck from square to profile usually takes me around five minutes at the most with a spokeshave...including having a cup of coffee while I'm working.
I just want a round hole for my cone.I've busted a couple boxes and cant afford it anymore.I shape and sand everything by hand!
Lowe told me he just uses a jig saw.I would like to use my dremel for its purpose, and have a "perfect(yeah right)circle".
Thanks for the answers people.
What dremel bit for a circle to drop a cone in?
I have the jig and dremel, just need to know what bit.
Thanks,
BNz'
I'm with the Kid and Tom and Chickenbone John on this one. Since I ditched my router and got a spokeshave, my neck shaping has become a very enjoyable process, not to mention one that I can do while the wife is sleeping 'cause it is so quiet. Seeing those beautiful shavings pile up is a very "Old World" kind of experience and will be even more so as soon as I build a "shaving bench". I also save all the nice curly shavings for other projects like home-made potpourri or whatever. Routers are great for a lot of things but neck shaping is not one of them IMHO.
And I see I already had replied to this before, so you can see I love my spokeshave!
