Here is my WD40 Oil can guitar I just finished today

It is a two stringer, it plays more like a diddley bow more than anything, but it strums better than a diddley bow. I am not going to lie, it is hard to play, I have not had time to really tame it down and get the hang of it. I will post some close up pics later. Lets put it this way, I used what I had, I wanted it to look like someone just walked into the garage and found what ever they had and just built something. (which is what I did). The can itself was pretty flimsey so I had to re-enforce it the best I could. It is some sort of thin steel though, not aluminum. I am sure the gas cans back in the 40's were a lot thicker walled than this can, making them better and more sturdy to work with. Tell me what you guys think. Thanks.

don't think i ever built something that didn't need tweaking at some stage. looks very cool by the way. magnetic pickup?

Thanks for the props......it has a cheap single coil pickup from ebay....I think it cost me 3 bucks all together. So, for the whole build, it might have cost me....considering I had most of this stuff all ready, the pick up from another build, and 4 bucks for the strings....I would say 7 bucks....all together, maybe...that is not counting the wd40, which is now stored in a recycled apple juice jug....;-)

If it is a little hard to play, spray a little of that WD40 on it. WD40 fixes everything.

Agreed, a fine looking build. I would say that the other option besides WD-40 would have to be duck tape, the other shop cure-all. ;)
