Never had this happen before. I usually visualize a box made into a guitar and go for it and it usually turns out close to what I expected. This one I just have not been happy with. The picture on the left is what I was planning, but it just doesn't look right to me. It is blah. I think I like the Edge box better with the neck I made. What do you do with the rough Edge box surface? I'd hate to get slivers every time I pick it up. Opinions requested.

My vote goes to the original box. I think I'm a little wierd though...I hate cutting up/breaking up the logos. If you do end up using the edge box, you could flip the lid. I seem to remember the inside looking pretty good.
Ya, I know what you mean that is why I like to make the back of most boxes the face of the guitar.

Im making a guitar right now with that same rough 'Edge' brand box. I like the look of it, which is why i bought it, and I havent had a problem with splinters. I just ignored all the writing and logos on it put the sound holes where i thought they should go. What are you using for frets on your guitars? Looks nice. —B
Give it a feather-light sanding withe a fine grit paper starting at 400 (and I mean light - don't jack up the logo). Then take it up to 600 and apply slightly more pressure, again, not to much. Finish it off with 1000 at moderate pressure. Finish the whole thing off with about 5 coats of Tung.
I'm no purist. I say sand off the logo if you can and go with your design layout.

What does the bottom look like?
I'd like to update my response to agree with Diane. I don't mind getting rid of a logo, just not a fan of partial ones. But then again there's the fun "screw it" aspect of building it as rough looking as you want.
Ah heck, I decided to quit horsing around and finish what I started. Some will like it some won't. Not as if I was custom building for someone. I usually end up giving them away to friends and relatives anyway. They have to like them.
