Thanks ya'll!  407bug, yes the bridge is a layered right angle cardboard piece for packing that came with a grill I bought.  There ended up being four of them, so I've got at least for more basses to build for these bridges.  The tone is a lot better with the pickup I've got clipped onto the bridge running through a Fishman preamp.  But acoustically it sounds pretty awesome too.  Not to shabby for a first project, but I've got a lot of practicing to do as a bass player.  :)
