On my instructional CDs, although I do teach theory, I try my best to keep it easy to understand, but more importantly, I demonstrate how it can be applied to exploring the fingerboard and arranging songs. You really don't want to spend hours practicing scales mindlessly, but use them as a tool to get into the ball park, when you are trying to create a song or a lick. Considering most people play guitar for years, it makes a lot of sense to build a solid foundation in the basics. Trying to learn it correctly the first time, definitely saves a lot of time relearning and getting rid of bad habits. Enjoy your practice, Keni Lee
