Yeah man, I'll make a flyer, give me the info for the place, let's try to get some CBG afficiandos over there to rock out. Get the guy from Lake Elsinore, maybe I can check out his guitars, and anyone else who is interested in CBG's. Let's make it happen, we need to rock this sh!t.
Awesome. I was bummed that I only got the one song but didn't want to hold a camera the whole time (just wanted to enjoy the playing). Looking forward to hearing them.
Yeah, we would be down to do set, do you have open mic every Sat? We could put it together for maybe the second week in April if you like, it will give us a little time to promote it. Let me know what you have open.
Thanks for the comment and for the info on the open mic. We would be down to come play, is there anyway you could give us a 30-45 minute time slot for a set?
If you are around we have a couple of shows coming up in the next couple of weeks, you should come check it out.
This Saturday - Waterloo Station, Mission Viejo, 8pm.
Thursday March 24th - The Copper Door, Santa Ana, 9-11pm (this place is amazing inside, really cool place.
Saturday April 2nd - Santora Building in the Basement, Santa Ana Artwalk, 10pm, they have a really fun, happing artwalk the first Sat of every month.
Dig your upload of Heroes from the Grave...dang radios players...i cannot make them go past the songs and get to what i want to hear!! ........least on your page...
i'm more in to roots stuff but could do some danchall aswell but the tricky part of dancehall is sure is the vocal aswell as the drum and bass tracks, anyhow i will try to do a little video this week for the fun of it !!!
Reggae got he's root from the blues so it is all the same for me :D
i'm probabely the first one here on nation who play reggae only with my CBG so we should get along pretty well,
first of all let me tell you me trick with CBG to be able to play reall reggae, use the last 3 or 4 strings like a reall reggae player would do, and tune it normal DGBE or GBE depending on the number of string on your CBG, now i can tell you with little experience that a 4 stringer is the best for this, also consider using whawha and or phaser or flanger to get that skanky feeling and also reverb and chorus works well and even clean sound great also, i guest it all depend on what your looking for as for sounding, sorry for my poor english, i'm french canadian, later dude and hope it helped you !!!
i will do i little video somedays showing how i do it !!!
Hi Cris, Reggae is entirely doable on a cbg. I went to youtube and watched some lessons by claredowling (I like her!). Took me a while to get the beat, but I got it. The tuning that worked for me is dgb. You kind of have to fret and release fretting pressure to the beat. Key of A well for 3 little birds and easy in that tuning. Redemption song is easy enough in that tuning too, with an Am and sliding it up 2 frets for a Bm. Try it. If you are not getting it, ask me. I am not good enough yet to do a video.
As you might have noticed, basically I am taking 6 string tunings and cutting them in half. Open G: DGDgbd cut in half becomes: GDg / gbd
Stringing and tuning GDg yields ADf# tuning (Open D).
Please consider purchasing my instructional video CD 4 (How to play 3 string CBG). CD 1 is also applicable. Please feel free to write if you have any further questions. www.ebay.com / Search: keni lee
Cris, Thanks for your nice comment on my 'Trouble In Mind.' We share a love for good 'story blues.' Another good one for you might be 'It Hurts Me Too' and old Elmore James song. Lots of examples on youtube and a mediocre example from me on the nation. Check out a wonderful player/singer on youtube under iplaybanjo now. That pretty young gal and her songs are wonderful.
Thank you Cris for your comment. I started fingerpicking back in 1984. I guess if you are patient, persitent, and a little obsessed too (LOL), anything is possible. Enjoy.

Hey Cristobal, I replied on the other page but wanted to be sure you got the tuning so I figured I would reply here as well. The tuning is GDG. Thanks for your comment!

Cris,
I like you and I like your stuff. One suggestion with your videos: In the typed portin, credit the old blues folk who wrote the songs we do.
Great version of Hoochie on this page. Good on ya.
