Thanks for the info, it looks good. I was going to use brass rod (pictured). It looks a bit new though. Haven't had time to try it yet but believe that vinegar may help to get a tarnish look?

I was experimenting with distressing fret wire, the 2 top frets in the pic below were done with a oil-heat idea. Which brings out some cool bluish red colors. The fret on the bottom was untouched to show the comparison.  I used a map torch to heat the fret wire and then dipped it into container of motor oil.
