I have taken to decorating the insides of boxes when I use a large sound-hole. I have used dye, paint, magazine pages (pictures of cigars), old maps and art paper.

If I use the little brass grommets or other small sound-hole solutions it's not important to do that.

In the case of the black CBG, it looked so dramatic that the little circles of plywood showing through the sound holes seemed a too plain. My wife has a nice collection of Japanese art papers and I borrowed (OK, I guess when it's a permanent application "borrow" isn't the right word) a little bit of some paper I liked from her collection and cemented it inside the box.

Those are brass (plated?) eyelets used in leather craft. I get them at Tandy Leather: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/home/department/Hardware/1286-11...
I just stick them in there with a drop or two of epoxy.

Yeah, I'm starting them all at 6"; they don't necessarily end up there, but I like the real estate.

Turned out nice though...I make all my headstocks at least 5 inches long so I have plenty of room for stuff.

This was my "build number three several years back; i was making headstocks way too short back then.
