Wikipedia has some articles on sound effects (in general), and it seems these effect boxes are designed to produce these effects for electric guitar, bass and other electric instruments using a variety of different effect boxes or effect pedals. I thought this article on Wikipedia would be a good place for newbies to learn the basic terminology.

Another cool tool for audio electronic DIYers is a $50 oscilloscope. Here's the link to the U.S. distributor's web page that describes the product. The actual manufacturer is a Chinese company called JYE Tech and here's the link to their webpage that describes the product. Both pages are in English.

This seems like a great topic for electric guitars (eCBG) newbies like myself. Here's a link you may find useful: diyeffect.com. I got this link from some other place on CBN and bookmarked it. As the company's web address suggests, they offer kit parts for folks who want to build their own effect boxes, including empty PCB (printed circuit boards) with schematics. I think it's a good place to start.

The problem for me is that I don't know what each type of effect box can do for you. It would be great if more knowledgeable members could record (and post to CBN) what their effects boxes can do for them, starting with the most commonly used effects.

I've pretty much got all the pedals needed to get experimental sounds out of my instruments. Delay, chorus, compression/sustain. I would however like a loop station.
