Most Channels i've seen are done with a few passes with a router. The best guys appear to use a jig or sled to guide the router accurately.

How do people cut the groove for a truss rod? Table saw?

Thanks-I have a chunky oak flooring neck glued up as we speak. I'll eventually break down a do a truss rod neck. For now I'm keeping it simple.

truss rods do not keep a neck straight, they are there to correct it when it bends

I build my 3 and 4 stringers with two pieces of 8-ply plywood laminated together, and they have not bowed at all. My commercially-made Ovations both have laminated necks (but with internal adjustable truss rods). Even the cheapest commercial guitars have truss rod necks, so you may want to think about at least an internal truss bar; 6-bangers average about 200 ft-lbs of tension at standard pitch, and a truss bar will help even a laminated neck stay straight.

hey Papa. I get requests to build 6 strings all the time. Do you think a laminated neck could handle the tension? I was thinking of running a piece of 1/2 inch plywood down the middle and oak on each side.

What's the bridge made from?  Any chance you could post of picture of the guitar and a picture of the wiring?
