Volume Control Yes or No ?

I noticed lately alot of people building without volume controls is there a reason for this, what do you think.

Having volume & tone pots add a wider range of sound possibilities for electric cbg's. Especially if the guitar is playable as an acoustic. Having the control on the guitar is also convenient, rather than having to reach for the amplifier to adjust while playing.

Not having a volume or tone pot on an electric guitar is like driving a car in first gear...it will get you there, but real slow.

On all my electric builds I put a volume control I believe if there is a pickup there should be a control for it.

Once you get a good amp you'll understand just how useful/important they are...

I am just wondering why some people don't install volume controls, unless you are sitting beside the amp you have no immediate control over volume.

Guess I answered wrong question. Seems to me a builder would omit volume/tone pots for a few reasons. Either he or she doesn't have the parts (pots), or doesn't want to complicate things, or is not experienced enough to go beyond a pickup-direct-to-jack setup. However, try as they may to avoid them, volume/tone pots are just another part of the evolution of being a cbg/guitar/mandocello/uke-bg...yada yada yada.

If I'm using one of Elmar's Flatpups I go straight to jack. Keeps it nice and simple. If I'm playing live I always set my level and leave it there no matter what instrument I'm playing.
