I'm havin' so much fun with the first one I built, I decided to build another !!!

Well, I've been having a blast with the fretted 3 stringer I built last week, so I decided I needed to build another one !

This time I decided to build a 2 string fretless version for slide. I also decided to use a paint can lid resonator and add a Tele pup.  I made the spacing such that if I decided I didn't dig the 2 stringer, I could easily add a 3rd tuner, ferrule, and string. (who knows - it might happen, might not....)

Anyway, I got it started today. I did the biggest part of the work and have test fitted everything. I need to do the roundovers on the neck edges, build the nut, wire it up, etc.. I'll probably do the majority of the rest of the work tomorrow and spray the finish on the neck.

Lookin real nice so far. Can you also post some inside pics (gut shots)? I'm curious how you fitted the pu? Did you rout out a piece of the neck in the body and how did you strenghten that weak spot?

I'll take some pics for you asap. Basically I just recessed an area of the neck using a forstner bit and then reinforced it with another strip of wood that I glued up underneath it .

 

I haven't touched this one since I took the pics -= I need to finish it. I moved on to a different one so this one gathered a bit of dust.
