Foot Drum and combining 2 inputs...

I have been wanting to build a foot drum for some time... Obviously, this is a very difficult build... um... ok... maybe not.

But instead of needing a second amp for the foot drum, I thought... why not just combine the inputs?  If they are both piezo elements, why not run them in parallel, with a volume control on the foot drum?

My options are

1:  Input and output jacks on the foot drum, with a passive "tone" filter on the foot drum piezo to keep it running just bass notes.

2: Input and output jacks on the foot drum, with 2 independent volume controls and a passive filter on the foot drum.

3.  Output jack only on the foot drum, with passive filter, but build an external passive combiner (2-500k audio taper pots)

3a.  Add a preamp booster to the combiner...

I'm looking to see if anybody here has wired one in any of those configurations and could provide input before I start building the passive electronics...

Yes you can definitely do this, I've only done it (option 2:guitar thru jack) on a lap steel but same difference. Note recent discussions here regarding a diode where each input signal leaves its own volume pot in order to prevent inputA sneaking off to ground when you roll off the volume on inputB

You could certainly put one of those preamps for an acoustic guitar in it too like you say (3a). if you do add one then add two, one for each side, you'll want to buffer the piezo on the foot drum as well.

Odd...

I was re-visiting "stomp boxes" only yesterday. Is it like a phase of the moon or something that makes us all think of the same instruments?

Please keep this thread going. I've gotta' go visit the local junk stores to see what I can find that looks noisy.
