Hi guys, first post.

Thought you might be interested in what I get up to. I build classic old valve amps into cookie tins and whiskey tins. I describe them as being the perfect companion to the cigar box guitar.

What they are foremost is a piece of artwork, they just so happen to also be a useable amp. Here's my first two:

Tim Tam Champ

This is a 5F1 Fender Champ circuit built into a Tim Tam tin. Tim Tams for you non-Aussies is a classic Australian biscuit. The company that makes them was bought out by an American company. The symbolism of an American amp in a Tim Tam tin was too irresistible not to exploit.

Jack Daniels Marshall

This is an 18W Marshall circuit from the mid 60's. One of the all time classic blues amps. The tin is an old Jack Daniels tin made in Mansfield, England. A tribute to whiskey swilling bluesmen.

The Champ isn't for sale but I will probably make another of them before long which I'll build so it can be sold.

The Jack Daniels one is recently sold. I should have another to sell sometime next month. The bulk of the parts are in transit from the US as we speak. I have a nice JD tin to use for it.

This is not a commercial operation, it's just a hobby.

I don't have any recording gear set up at the moment, sorry. They sound like what they are a clone of. I was faithful to the original circuits. I'm sure you know what an 18W Marshall and a Tweed Fender Champ sounds like.

The only divergence from original is a wee bit more capacitance in the power supply filter on the Marshall.

The Tim Tam amp has extra switches on it now to reduce the negative feedback and switch the preamp tube to 6V heaters so I can test Russian tubes like 6N2P in it. I wouldn't include those on one I was selling, they are just for my amusement. It also has a multi-tapped output transformer so I can run either a 4 or 8 ohm speaker, the original only had a 4 ohm output.

Been at it again. This one sold in 10 mins of posting it online.

They keep coming. This is another 18W Marshall in a Jack Daniels tin.

This one is still available for sale. It didn't sell in 10 mins like the last one so if you want it it's still there. Just use the contact button on the page.

Jack Daniels and cigars - are there better companions?  ;)
